Bong Tanker Explosion: ECOWAS Commission Console Bongese

The ECOWAS Commission in Liberia has consoled the Government and people of Liberia for the irreparable loss sustained after the explosion of a fuel tanker in Totota on December 26, 2023.
ECOWAS said it is shocked and saddened over the incident.
According to a statement issued recently, the ECOWAS Commission conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and urged them to take solace in the Lord to overcome the distress.
The Regional Bloc also expressed hope and prayed for the quick recovery of the injured and commended the Government of Liberia for the proactive measures to ensure their speedy recovery.
The ECOWAS Commission also committed its readiness to support ongoing measures by the Liberian Government to investigate the circumstances leading to the explosion to prevent a recurrence of similar tragic incidents.
In another development, the Liberian Board of Nursing and Midwifery has donated rice to the Phebe Hospital in Bong County.
It followed appeals from the administration of the hospital for medical and non-medical supplies to cater to victims of the recent gas tanker explosion in Totota.
Presenting the rice, the Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Board, Cecelia Kpangbala-Flomo, extended sympathy to families of the deceased and stressed that the Board was concerned about the well-being of victims still alive.
Responding to the gesture, Phebe Hospital Medical Director, Dr. Minnie Sankawulo-Ricks, described the gesture as appropriate and thanked the Nursing and Midwifery Board for timely responding to their request.
Dr. Ricks also appealed for additional supplies to strengthen the Hospital’s capacity to feed and provide medical care for patients. By Patrick Stephen Tokpah
