President George Weah Today, December 20, 2023, officially lighted the National Christmas Tree.
The brief occasion is an annual traditional event to symbolize the commencement of the festive season celebration.
The Liberian leader dressed in a white suit was accompanied by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia, Sie-A-Nyene Yuoh, Associate Justices of the Supreme Court of Liberia, and other members of the cabinet as well as members of the National Legislature to jointly perform the national task on capitol Hill, the seat of the government.
Chief Justice Youh welcomed and received President Weah and his entourage and hopes that peace and goodwill will be with the Liberian leader, his family including the people of Liberia as he gradually exits the stage as President of Liberia.
Also speaking briefly, the Liberian leader, while switching on the light, stressed that he hopes that the light will keep the nation and its people peaceful.
Speaking further, he said he wants the light to shine in the hearts of all Liberians.
Meanwhile, The annual Christmas tree traditional exercise performed by President Weah on Wednesday will mark his last as President of Liberia following his recent defeat to the main opposition leader, Amb. Joseph Nyumah Boakai in the November 14, 2023 runoff Presidential Elections.
